Q: What is Human Givens Therapy?
A: Human Givens Therapy is a form of Brief Solution-Oriented Counselling and Psychotherapy focusing on the human needs and resources that form the basis of emotional health and clear thinking. At its heart is the recognition that emotional health is dependent upon the ability to meet basic emotional needs which act as nutrition for the mind.
The Human Givens approach to counselling emphasis the importance of the therapist – client relationship and of identifying clear therapeutic objectives which can then be addressed pragmatically. It combines psychological knowledge with proven therapeutic techniques to relieve emotional distress quickly. It also utilities relaxation and guided imagery.
Q: What happens during the session?
A: I will spend a few minutes finding out exactly what you want to achieve. This does not require lengthy investigation of your past. Instead we will look at whatever it is that is not going right for you in your life today, as well as what IS going right. We will then devise strategies to assist you in making the changes that you want to see. Building upon your strengths and personal resources, I will then employ guided imagery to allow you to mentally rehearse the skills and actions that will allow you to achieve your goal.
Q: What do you charge per session?
A: £50 per session (up to 90 minutes duration).
Q: How do I pay?
A: Payment can be made at the end of the session. I accept card payments, cash or cheques.
Q: What if I miss a booked session?
A: All sessions can be cancelled up to 48 hours in advance without payment.
Q: How can I book an appointment?
A: You can call me on 07717 289373.
Q: How many sessions will be required?
A: Everyone’s situation is different, but I aim to take as few sessions as possible and you can fully expect improvements to take place from the first session.
